Onslow County, NC - Will of Luke Huggins, 1835 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Will of Luke Huggins In the name of God Amen I luke Huggins of the county of Onslow state of North Carolina, Being of sound mind and memory have mad the following will and testament, revoking all others heretofor by me made. Item first I herby leave to my wife Elizabeth Huggins all the lands, which I purchased of Dempsey Jones , Nicolas James, Daniel Calhoun, and also the lands which I purchased of Edw. B. Dudly, situated near Joansboro, during her natural life. Item Second I will that Owen Huggins have all the lands I purchased of William Handcock,, Edward Hammonds, and heirs of Joshua Hammonds, Willoubhly Stevens, and heirs of Nathanial Loomis, further I will that said Owen Huggins have all the cattle and hogs belonging to said plantations. Item three I will that David Marshall have all the lands I purchased of the heirs of Lemuel Doty and also the lands I purchased of Duram R. Huntington and five hundred dollars in cash. Item fourth I will that Owen Huggins have my French Creek Plantation Vest. and that David Marshall have my black suite of cloths. I will that all my negros be devided into three lots, so as for them to be in families so far as the nature of the case will admit of and my wife Elizabeth Huggins to have one of said lots and the other two lots to be set off to my brothers and sisters children, or the value thereof I also will my negros to remain together, until my crops which are now growing, are gathered. I will that my Corns, bacon, pork and lamb,, be at the disposal of my wife which are now on hand. I will all my real estate that is not otherwise devised, to be sold, and equally devided between my brothers and sisters children. The above mentioned lands to be sold at the discretion of my executors. I wish all my money, notes, judgements, and accounts be equally devided between my brothers and sisters children. I wish the proceeds of my crop now growing, to be equally devided between my wife and brothers and sisters children. Which includes one half of the crop on the plantation where Owen Huggins now lives. I wish after my crop is gathered, that all my horses, cattle, hogs and sheep be sold, and the proceeds be equally devided between my wife and my brothers and sisters children. I wish David Marshall to have my silver watch. I wish Owen Huggins to have my double barreled gun, and Luke B. Huggins to have my George Dudly gun. I will that all my household and kitchen furniture and plantation utensiles be sold and the proceeds to be equally devided between my wife and my brothers and sisters children. I herby constitute and appoint John A. Arvitt?, Owen Huggins, David Marshall all my lawful executors in heretofor where of I haveunto set my hand the twentieth day of May in the year of our Lord, One thousand eight hundred and thirtyfive.
