First of all, I recommit my soul to God who gave it and my body to be decently buried and my buriel expenses to be paid by my executor herein after named. ITEM I give and bequeath to my son William W. Humphrey one dollar to him and his heirs forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Humphrey one feather bed and stead and furniture to her choice, to her and her heirs forever. ITEM My will and desire is that at my decease all my property of every description not heretofore disposed of be sold and the proceeds be equally divided between my children, namely Allen, Nathan and George W. Humphrey and my daughters Tabitha Ann Brinson, Sarah Rochelle and Elizabeth Humphrey. ITEM I appoint and constitute my son Nathan W. Humphrey executor to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said Esther Humphrey have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this the twenty third day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty three. Taylor Edmund Shepard State of North Carolina} Onslow County} Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions March Term 1854 Then was the foregoing will of Esther Humphrey offered for probate and admitted on the oath of Elza C. Taylor, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded whereupon Nathan W. Humphrey, the executor therein named, appeared in open court and qualified in due form of law whereupon letters of testamentary were ordered by said court to give to him.
