This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Kathy Wilde wildekat@hotmail.com ==================================================================== In the Name of God Amen I John Johnston planter of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina being weak of Body and in a low State of helth but of perfect and sound mind and Memory Thanks be Given to God therefor Calling to mind the Mortallity of my Body and knowing it it is appointed for all men once to Dye do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to Say) principally and first of all I Recommend my Soul into the hands of God who Gave it and my Body to the Earth to be Buried in Decent Christian Burial at the Discretion of my Executors hereafter named Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurection I Shall Receive the same again by the mighty Power of God, and as to what worldly Estate it hath pleased God to bestow on me in the Life I Give and Dispose of the Same in Manner and form following Imprymus first my will and Desire is that all my Just Debts and funeral Expences be fully paid and satisfied. Item I Give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Jemima Farr one Shilling Sterling to her and heirs and assigns for Ever. Item I Give and bequeath unto the Representaives of my beloved Daughter Kezia Ambrose Deceasd one Shilling Sterling to them and their heirs and assigns for Ever. Item I Give and bequeath unto my beloved Daughter Hannah Trott one Shilling Sterling to her and her heirs & assigns for Ever Item I Give and bequeath unto my beloved Son Nathan Johnston one Black Mare Commonly Called his Two Cows and yearlings Two Cows and Calves and Two year old Heifers which has Been Called his Two white Sows and the pigs that belong to them the sows ­ marked with a Crop and Slit in the Right Ear and a Corp & half Crop in the Left Ear and all the hogs I own on the Sowed Side of the North west Branch of new River and of all the hogs marked with a Crop and a half Crop in Each Ear which are Commonly Called his and six hives and Beas one Ew and Lamb and fifteen acres of Land more of Less Bounded as follows Begining at an oak Standing near a Drean of persimmon branch my Brother Thomas Johnstons Line thence the persimmon Branch Down to the mouth of the first mentioned Drean thence that Drean up to the begining Including the Houses and Small plantation whereon whereon I now Live to him and his heirs and assigns for Ever. Item I Give and bequeath unto my beloved Son John Johnston all the Remainder of the Land I own one Two year old Bay Horse one Two year old Heffer and Two Sows and pigs to him and his heirs and assigns for Ever. Item I Lend unto my well beloved wife Miriam Johnston all the Remaining part of my Estate of Every kind that is not before Disposed of in this will Dureing her Natural Life or widowhood The Comiting no waste thereof and at her Death or Entermariage my will and Desire is that that all the Lent articles be Eaqually Divided between my beloved Daughter Elizabeth Baronoe and my beloved Son John Johnston to them and there heirs and assigns for Ever. And I do hereby Nominate and appoint my good and Trusty friends Captain John Murrill and my Son Nathan Johnston to be my whole and Sole Executors of this my Last will and Testament hereby Revokeing and Disannulling all other or former wills Testaments bequeaths or Executions heretofore by me made or Named Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last will and Testament.
