		The Will of John Lee of Onslow County, NC 1788
                         (Original in NC Archives, Raleigh, NC)

In the name of God amen,
I John Lee of the County of Onslow and state of North Carolina Being weak of 
Body but of sound mind and memory thanks Be to God for the same do this day & 
in the Year of our Lord Christ One Thousand seven Hundred & Eighty Eight, make 
& publish this my last Will & Testament in the manner following

Item: I give to my son Henry Lee my Land & Plantation whereon I now live with 
all the land & privilages there unto belonging only I Except the use of my 
plantation to my wife Rachel Lee for & during her widowhood as Life & at her 
Death or mazrriage to be to my son Henry Lee his heirs & assigns 
forever........

Item: I give to my well beloved wife Rachel Lee my Negro girl Cris to her 
heirs & assigns forever.  I also lend to my wife Rachel Lee all my stock of 
Horses, Hogs, Cattle & sheep During her natural life and widowhood & at her 
marriage or Death to be Equally Divided betwean my Children hereafter 
mentioned them & their heirs forever, I also lend my wife all my Plantation 
Tools such as ploughs, hoes, & axes, all my Household & Kitchen Furniture, 
Except three Feather Beds & Furniture & at her marriage or Death all my stock, 
Household & Kitchen Furniture, working tools to be Equally Divided Betwean 
Abigail Lee, Sarah Lee, Mary Lee & Henry Lee to them & their heirs.....

Item: I give to my Daughter Abigail Lee one Fether Bed & Furniture to her & 
her heirs forever....

Item: I give to my Daughter Sarah Lee one Fether Bed & Furniture to her & her 
heirs forever....

Item: I give to my Daughter Mary Lee one Fether Bed & Furniture to her heirs 
forever.....

Item: I give to my son Jacob Lee all my Coopers Tools & all my Turning Tools 
to him & his.

Item: I give to my Daughter Penelope Marshburn ten shillings

Item: I lend my wife Rachel Lee my Negro Peter and Negro George During her 
widowhood or Natural Life & at her Death or marriage Peter to be sold & the 
money arising from the sale thereafter to be Equally Divided betwean Abigail 
Lee, Sarah Lee & Mary Lee my three Daughters to them & their heirs forever...

Item: I give to my son Henry Lee after his mother’s Death or marriage my Negro 
named George to him & his heirs forever.....

And lastly I make my sd. wife Rachel Lee & my Friend Charles Lee wholey & 
solely my Exor & Exetrix of this my last Will and Testament, Revoking and 
making null & void all others in--------
whereoff I the sd. John Lee have set my hand & affixed my seal 
this 12th day May 1788
