It was folded in the center and is much worn and has separated into two pieces with some of the middle missing. Also some words are very hard to decipher) IN THE NAME of GOD AMEN, the first day of December in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred & Eighty one, I Joseph Loyd of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, Planter, being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God, therefore calling to mind the mortality of the body, Knowing that it is appointed for all men once to Dye, Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say First of all, I give and Recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it, as For my body I Recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Cristian Like and Discreet (?) Manner at the Descretion (?) Of Suzaner Loyd who I appoint Soul Executrix with Thomas Mashborn Executor Nothing Doubting but at a general resurrection(?) I shall receive the same again at the mighty Power of God and as touching such word. (-----) it has (-----) God to bless me with in this life. I give devise and dispose of the same in Following manner and form (-------) it is my will and I do order that in the First Place all my Just Debts and Funaral Charges be Paid and satisfyed. Item: I lend my Beloved Wife Suzaner Loyd my Plantation During her Naturel Life. Item: I give unto my son Joseph Loyd one hundred and twenty six acres of Land the upper part of the Trac of Land on which I now Live and part of a New Survey. I also give Two Cowes and Calves, one (case?) Of bottles, one (medd– gig?), hot iron, one (-------), two large puter Basons & three puter (plates?). Item: I give unto my son Daniel Loyd (—) hundred acres of Land it being the other part of my af. Land, two Cowes and Calves, one Large Iron Pot, hooks and Tramel(?) With it & one Larage puter Dish, two Large Puter Basons & three puter Plates. (Missing section containing two or more lines, cannot be deciphered) Item: I give unto my Daughter Suzanner Loyd one feather (bed) (rest of line is missing) Item: I give unto my Daughter Rebeaca Loyd one Bead and Furniture & one cow & calf. Item: I give unto my Daughter Mary Loyd one Feather Bead (bed) and Furniture, one cow & calf, one Small Iron Pot, one Brass Spice (mortar & pestle?), one Box Iron & Heaters (?) Item: I give unto my Son Thomas Loyd twenty shillings (--------). Item: I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth Mashborn twenty shillings (-------). Item: I give unto my Daughter Sara(h Fisher?) Twenty shillings (-----). Item: I give unto my Daughter Anne Jones twenty shillings (-----). Item: I Lend all the Remainder of my Estate that is not given in Ligeses (legacies?) to my Wife During her Widohood, and after her widohood to be Equaly Divided amongth my Four Youngest Children Rebeacah, Joseph, Daniel, & Mary, and Nothing to be sold and I (most of line missing along the fold) to be my Last Will and Testament .
