All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Elizabeth Sergomassov Killeretk@yahoo.com October 19, 2006, 12:32 pm Source: Nc Archives Written: January 8, 1887 The Will of Needham Roberson, Sr. 1/8/1887 NORTH CAROLINA, ONSLOW COUNTY In the Name of God Amen, I Needham Roberson, Sr., of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, blessed be God for the same, do on this 8th day of January A.D. 1887, make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say: Item 1st That my Executrix hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, and pay all funeral expenses together with all my just debts if any out of the money that may first come into her hands as a part or parcel of my estate. Item 2 I give and devise unto my beloved wife Mary Ann Roberson during her natural lifetime or widowhood all the lands that I own at this present time, to her proper use and support during her said lifetime or widowhood.. Item 3 I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Lurena Roberson all that tract of land which I sold and bought back again to and from my oldest son John E. Roberson supposed to contain 45 acres more or less refer to a deed from me to said J. E. Roberson for boundries and particulars To Have and to Hold to her the said Lurena Roberson and to her heirs forever with this exception and reservation. I do except and reserve the privilege of a cart way to and from my canoe landing across and through the above devised premises to and for the use of my son Needham Roberson, Jr. and his heirs forever. Item 4th I give devise and bequeath unto my son Needham Roberson, Jr., all the balance of my lands not named in the foregoing Item that I am now possessed of to him the said Needham Roberson and to his heirs to have and to hold after the death of my said wife or at the expiration of her widowhood to have and possess the same to him and his heirs forever. Item 5th I give and devise unto my beloved wife Mary A. Roberson during her liftime or widowhood all of my perishable estate personal property, of every form and nature including all provisions ,etc., and at the death of my said wife or at the expiration of her widowhood, my will and desire is that all of the above named perishable estate shall be equally divided between Needham Roberson, Jr., and Lurena Roberson my son and daughter to them and their heirs forever. Item 6th I give and devise unto my sone John E. Roberson one feather bed, bedstead and furniture to be delivered at my death, it being the bed generally used by myself, which bed, etc., with advancement heretofore made I consider to be his equitable and full share of all my estate both real and personal. Item 7th My will and desire is that after the death of my said wife, and my son Needham Roberson becomes possessed of the property above devised to him that he pay the sum of Twenty five Dollars without interest, to my daughter Rebecca Simpson which with former advancements to her already made I consider to be her full share of all my estate. also my will and desire is that my daughter Mary E. Sammons shall not inherit any thing from my present estate as former advances to her is equitable for her share in all my present estate. Also in addition to Item the 4th I give and bequeath to my son Needham Roberson all my right title and interest which I have or may have hereafter in and to any Oyster Garden to him and his heirs forever. Also my will and desire is that for the use and benefit of the lands devised to my daughter Lurena Roberson untill she shall arrive to the edge (sic) of 21 years, that my beloved wife Mary A. Roberson and my son Needham Roberson is to have the use of, that which lands my will is that the said Mary A. and Needham Roberson shall have the use of untill the said Lurena shall become age(sic). Also my will and desire is that should my said daughter Lurena Roberson die leaving no issue of her body or if leaving issue and it or they die without issue that my son Needham Roberson or his heirs if he be dead should heir the lands devised to the said Lurena Roberson. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my said wife Mary A. Roberson my sole Executrix to this my last will and Testament and in case she should die before my daughter Lurena shall arrive to the age 21 years then and in such case I appoint and constitute my son John E. Roberson Executor in my said wifes stead to carry out this my last will and Testament to its true intent and meaning thereof. Revoking and making void all other wills heretofore by me made. In witness whereof I the said Needham Roberson, Sr., do hereunto set my hand and seal. Needham Robinson (seal) signed, sealed and published by the said Needham Roberson to be his last will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
