File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Carla Ratcliff " In the name of God I John Wilcocks of Craven County in Province of North Carolina planter being in sound mind & memory thanks be to God but Calling to mind the uncertainty of this life so made and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following First I recommend my soul unto the almighty God who gave it hoping for pardon for all my sins through the _____ mercy of Jesus Christ my Savior and Redeemer and my body to the Earth, and as for my Temporal Estate which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I give and dispose of the same in manner and form the folowing- In promise I give unto my well beloved wife, Jane Wilcocks, the use of the Plantation and land I bought of Lemuel Hatch the north side of the Saw Mill from the North corner of the pond a straight ______ to a white oak on the river side a corner tree till my son Benjamin Willcocks comes of age then I give the foresaid land to my son Benjamin Willcocks to him his heirs and _____forever agreeable to the patent bearing Date the 29 th Day of September 1753. Item; I give unto my grandson John Wilcocks part of the land I bought of Stephen Swelley lying on the North sdie of the mill pond and part of the land I bought of Lemuel Hatch on the same side of the mill pond to him and to his heirs and assign forever Item; Give unto my sons Thomas and Stephen Willcocks my lands on the Southside of the mill pond being the remainder of the land bought of Stephen Swelley and a tract of land I bought of Lemuel Hatch containing six hundred & forty acres to be equally divided between them their heirs and assign forever Item; I give unto my well beloved wife Jane one bed and furniture one______ two cows and _____and ten pounds proclamation money Item; My will and desire is that my Saw Mill may be kept by my Executor to pay my Debts and after my son Benjamin Wilcocks comes of age I give the foresaid Saw Mill to him and his heirs forever. Item; I give my two sons Thomas and Stephen Wilcocks my Grist Mill to them and their heirs and assign forever Item; I give unto my Daughter Ann five pounds of Proclamation money my will and desire is that all the rest of my Estate except a bed and furniture which I give to my son Stephen, to be equally divided amongst my wife Jane and my children _____ Thomas Stephen Benjamin & my grandson John Wilcocks to them and theirs forever.
