I, Eben Burnap of the state and county aforesaid, considering the uncertainty of this human life and certainty of death, while my mind is sound and unimpaired, my memory sound and good, do make the following instrument to be most solemn and last will. First, it is my request that my debts be paid and satisfied by my Executors that is to say, William P. Ferrand & Brice Burnap, who I appoint my lawful representatives. First, I give to my son Brice Burnap, a certain parcel of land beginning at John Matticks corner and running a strait line out middle way between the Bell house and negro Lewis house, to the back line and then with the back line to Gilletes corner (field?) and strait to Gilletts other corner and strait down to the branch to the corner White Oak between S. Freeman and myself, then across the main swamp and then down the main swamp to the mouth of the big branch, and then up the Big Branch to the corner of John Matticks at the beginning. I also give to my son Brice Burnap, four Negroes to wit Ceasor, Dafner, Hannah & George. I also give to Brice Burnap a half dozen square back chairs and this bofat (buffet) in my dwelling. I also give to my grandson Eben B. Burnap one Negro boy by the name of Joe. I also lone unto my son Micajah F. Burnap all the land between Webs Creek and Brice Burnap's line that is above the road, during his natural life or if he marries, his wife's lifetime or widowhood. Should he have no lawful begotten heirs by his lawful wife, it must return to my grandchildren. I also leave to my son Micajah F. Burnap, four Negroes to wit: Lewis, Sofia his wife, Ada, Rhoda, which Negroes I leave him as I did the land. Also one bed, bedstead and furniture & half dozen chairs, stool chairs & one pine table, the bofat (buffet) where Brice now lives. I also give unto daughter Elizabeth Newbould, four Negroes viz., Patience, Milla, Charles and Julia. I also give to Brian Newbould one hundred acres of swamp and marshland, also my right in Mrs. Freeman's land. I also give unto my grand daughter Aplis Matticks, one Negro by the name of Sopha. I also give unto my daughter Nancy Taylor the Gillett land on the south west side of the Chapel Swamp to Brice Burnap's back line. I also give unto my daughter Nancy Taylor, three Negroes to wit: Jinny, Ceaser Jr., and Peg. I also give to my grand daughter Caroline Stevenson one Negro by the name of Fanny. I also with the balance of my property to be sold by my representatives and proceeds therefrom to be equally divided amongst my heirs. I also acknowledge this to be my last will in the presence of the witnesses whereunto I have set my hand and seal this the 27th day of November 1836.
