I, Uriah Canady of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina. I, Uriah Canady sen., considering myself in right mind and having my perfect senses and memory, blessed be God for the same, I do make this my last will and testament on the thirteenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty six. 1st I recommend my soul in the hands of Almighty God who gave it. 2nd that my request is that all my just debts be justly paid and all my funeral expences to be paid out of my estate. 3rd I give and bequeath unto my oldest son James Canady a certain piece of or parcel of land whereon he now lives included as follows: beginning at the mouth of a branch near the landing on (Beaqlens?) Creek, running up said branch to the back line, then with the back line to said (Beaglen's?) Creek or branch, thence down branch and creek to the first station. 4th I also give and bequeath unto my other two oldest sons, David Canady and Richard Canady a certain piece of land bounded as follows: beginning at the mouth of said Branch with my oldest son's beginning on Beaglens Creek, thence the various courses of said creek down to the mouth, thence up Fulwoods Creek to the old Bridge, thence strait out with a crop fence as it now stands to the first pair of bars, then from said bars a strait course to the outward corner of my garden from my house, thence from the corner of my garden (and?) direct to my back line, then with back line to this division line between James Canady and my other two oldest sons with the first named branch beginning at the landing (NOTE: the following words were lined through: "unto my youngest son Elijah Canady") to Beaglens Creek. 5th I also give and bequeath unto my youngest son Elijah Canady to hold with David & Richard Canady's line a piece of land beginning at the old bridge on Fulwoods Creek, then up said creek to the mouth of the first branch, thence up said branch to (Hannakes?) branch, thence up (Hannakes?) branch to the back line, thence bounded with the back line and last division line to the old bridge. 6th I also give and bequeath unto my son Zachariah Canady a certain piece of land lying and bounded as follows: lying out back of (Hannahes?) branch, beginning at the head of said branch running with my back line the various courses of said line round and down to the above named branches Elijah Canady line. 7th I also give and bequeath unto my loving wife (Ufamy?) Canady during her natural life all of my perishable property consisting of stock, household and kitchen furniture, farming utensils, her to hold during life or widowhood, then to be sold and equally divided between all of my daughters, viz. Tabitha, Rebecca, Eliza Ann, Elizabeth, Rachel, Marenda. I also give and bequeath to my daughter Rebecca Canady one cow & calf to be obtained this coming spring. 9th My will also is that my two sons, James and David Canady, pay unto my wife Ufamy Canady, thirty dollars each considering it to be the value of a horse each which they have had from me more than my other heirs. 10th My will and desire also is that one of my daughters die without a lawful heir for her share to return unto all of my daughters then living and I hereby make and ordain my beloved sons James Canady & David Canady as Executors to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I, the said Uriah Canady, have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and date above written.
