I, Benjamin Farnell, being sick and weak in body but sound mind & memory, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner & form following (viz.). First, it is my will and desire that all my slaves should be sold by my Executor at private sale at a credit of six months and it is also my will and desire that my slaves should have the privalidge of choosing their next owner (viz.). Their names as follows…. Woman (or women) Juile & Mabry, Edny, Mahalia, Hannah (?), Jude, Bedience (?), Mary, (Seney or Sandy), Esther, Dafny & man Tom, Elias, & (Tanner or Turner), & Luke & Turnip (?. 2nd, I give and bequeath my horse bridle & saddle to George W. Melton. 3rd, I give my watch to David Melton. 4th, the moneys arising from the sale of my slaves I leave to be equally divided between my sister Fereby Bender's five children Elizabeth Banks, Burrel (?) Bender, Brancy (?) McCullough, (illegible) Bender and Borden Bender. 5th, after paying my just debts and burial expences, my will and desire is that what money I have by me & due me, I give $100. To Jane (?) Farnell, $100 to John Farnell & I give to (illegible) Melton $100 & I give to Solomon (?) Melton $100 and sixty (?), the residue I give and bequeath to Daniel Ambrose to him, his heirs forever. Seventhly and lastly, I nominate and appoint my friend Daniel Ambrose my Executor to this my last will and testament, revoking all others.
