I Thomas Mashborn of the state of North Carolina County of Onslow being of sound & perfect mind & memory blessed be God do this day 23rd March in the year of our lord 1824 to make and publish this my last will & testament in manner & form following: ITEM I give and bequeath to my son Daniel Mashborn one hundred dollars in money to him & his heirs & assign forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Mashborn the lands & plantation whereon I now live containing two hundred & thirty four acres in the fork of the South west of new river and Harreys creek. I also give him on this tract four hundred acres adjoining the above up the south west Beginning at Nicholas Gurganous corner, Holly and William Estes corner poplar. I also give him one negro man named Peter, one grey horse named (illegible), three cows & calves, 5 head of sheep, one feather bed and furniture, one desk, one small trunk, one gun his own choice still (?) one iron pot & hooks the middle size, one steel trap and all my carpenters tools, one sett of pewter measures, one cross cut saw, one slate, to him & his heirs & assigns forever. ITEM I give & bequeath to my daughter Martilda Daffes (? or Davves) one negro boy named Arnold in her possession, one large iron pot & hooks & the largest painted chest to her & her heirs & assigns forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Ward one negro boy named Tony, one chest to her & her heirs & assigns forever. ITEM I give & bequeath to my daughter Kitty Scott one negro woman named Cate, one small painted chest to her & her heirs & assigns forever. ITEM I give & bequeath to my daughter Susannah Gurgainos one negro boy named Bob, one chest, to her & her heirs & assigns forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my grand son John Kimmey (?) fifty dollars in money to him & his heirs and assigns forever ITEM I leave my negro man named Isaac to be sold & the money arising therefrom I give to my daughter Ann Coston to her and her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my grandson Joseph Barber fifty dollars to him and his heirs and assigns forever ITEM I give and bequeath to my grandson Thomas Barber fifty dollars to him and his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my grand son Jackson Barber fifty dollars to him and his heirs and assigns forever ITEM I give and bequeath to my son in law Thomas Barber one dollar to him and his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM I leave my negro man Kent to be sold for the purpose of paying off my four above mentioned grand sons legacy namely John Kimmey, Joseph Barber, Thomas Barber and Jackson Barber ITEM I give and bequeath to my four daughters named as follows to wit: Elizabeth Ward, Kitty Scott, Susannah Gurgainous and Martilda Daffis (?) all my lands not otherways disposed of to be equally divided according to the value between my four above mentioned daughters - Elizabeth, Kitty, Susannah, & Martilda to them their heirs and assigns forever. My will and desire that all personal Estate of what kind (illegible) be sold and the money arriving therefrom to be equally divided between my seven children, namely Daniel and Thomas Mashborn, Ann Coston, Elizabeth Ward, Kitty Scott, Susannah Gurgainous, Martilda Davvis (?) to them & their heirs & assigns forever. Lastly I hereby make and ordain my son Thomas Mashborn and my worthy friend James Glenn (?) executors to this my last will and testament. In whereof I the said Thomas Mashborn have to this my last will & testament set my hand and affixed my seal the day & date first above written. Signed, sealed & acknowledged at presents of Test. Hosea Williams, Henry Melton, William Fisher (signed) Thomas Mashborn Onslow County, in open court Nov Term 1827.
