Matticks Will State of North Carolina County of Onslow Will Book 1 State of North Carolina, Onslow County, In the name of God Amen. I, William B. Matticks, of the county and state aforesaid, considering the uncertainty of the human life and certainty of death, while my mind is sound and unimpaired, my memory sound and good, do make the following instrument to be my most solemn and last will. First, it is my request that my debts be paid and satisfied by my Executors, that is by John Matticks and Brice Burnap, who I appoint my lawful representation. First, I give to my son, Curtis Matticks, all the land I possess in Carteret County forever. I also give to my son Curtis one negro girl by the name of Ester to him forever. I also give to my loving wife Elizabeth Matticks, three negroes, Lewis, Pat & Mary. I also loan to my wife Elizabeth Matticks all the land that I own in Onslow County, during her natural life and after her death to my son Curtis Matticks. I also give to my daughter, Applis Matticks, two negroes named Dick and Edmund, and wish all the residue of my property sold and divided equally among my wife and two children. I also wish my brother John Matticks be guardian to my son Curtis Matticks and Applis Matticks. I also wish if my executor think it proper to sell negro Dick that I gave my daughter Applis Matticks, that they should be sold for the benefit of my daughter & also acknowledge this to be my last will in presence of these witnesses whereunto I have set my hand and seal this the 27th of September 1831.
