I, John Pierson of the county of Onslow and State of North Carolina being very sick and weak but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto god calling unto mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make & ordain this my last will & testament that is to say principally & first of all I give & recommend my soul unto the hand of Almighty God who gave it & my body I recommend to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God & (illegible - as to making (?)) such worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give, divide & dispose of the same in the following manner & form. First, I give & Bequeath unto my wife Nancy Pierson all of the property that she had when I married her all the land & negro woman by the name of Edy & child by the name of Susanna. I also give her two dollars cash. I give & bequeath unto my daughter Druzelly Pierson one negro child by the name Micah (?) & five dollars cash. I also give & bequeath unto my children named William Pierson, Margaret Pierson, John Pierson Jr. & Aman Pierson all of my property lands, horses, cattle & hogs & negroes named Esabelle & child(ren) Miriah & Charles & all of my household & kitchen furniture. I do hereby constitute & appoint Benjamin F. Dulany, Esqr, Executor to this my last will & testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 11th day of January in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty eight.
