I, Daniel Rogers of the State of North Carolina and in the County of Onslow, being very (gone?) in the infirmity years, and in an imperfect note of bodily health, but of perfect soundness of mind and memory, thanks be to allmighty God for the same, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth in decent burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection, I shall receive the same by the mighty power of God and tuching such temporary or worldly estate as it pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, devise and dispose of in following manner wherein form, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Eliza Rogers, all my personal estate during her natural life or the term of her widowhood, that is all my lands, houses & plantation, all appertainses thereto belonging that I now possess, with my stocks, consisting of one horn cattle and hogs with my household and kitchen furniture, after all my lawful debts is paid for which purpose I will that such parts of the perishable property above mentioned shall be sold as the Executors shall deem necessary. I will and bequeath all my reading books be equally divided between my two children to wit: Mary H. Rogers, my daughter, & Daniel Rogers, Sr., my son, after having given and bequeathed all my property consisting will I likewise constitute make and ordain my dearly beloved wife Eliza Rogers my Executrix and James Coston of the State & County above mentioned my Executor with my dearly beloved wife Eliza Rogers to this my last will and testament and all the above mentioned possessions and tenements freely possessed and injoyed, revoking and disannuling all other testaments, wills, legacies heretofore made by me but ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand & seal this 4th day of July AD 1836.
