It is written the same in every reference and I am certain the first four characters are Russ.) In the name of God amen. I, Obiah Russell of the state of North Carolina & Onslow County at this time weak of body but sound of mind & memory. Calling to mind the mortality of all mankind that it is appointed for all to die & after recommending my soul to almighty god who created & my body submitted to its mother dust to buried decent & in a cristian like manner and agreeably to the last will & testament of first decd husband Thad Russell for me at my death to divide the property lent me by him for me at my death to divide the property lent me by him among his children I do therefor make and ordain this my last will & desire to divide the property lent me with some other that I have obtained since the death of my first husband revoking all other wills by me made either verbally or written. ITEM I give to my two sons David M. Russell & Daniel L. Russell my negro woman Winny for them to divide her equally between them by one selling to the other at a fair rate. Also, I give to David alone all the crop that is on the land where I now live with all the benefit that may arise from it also all the hogs that belongs to me also one white faced cow & yearling to him & his heirs forever. ITEM I give to my son William J. Russell six sitting chairs the same that his father left me to him & his heirs forever. ITEM I give to my daughter Fanny Walker one bed, bedstead and two sheets, one homespun coverbad (?), one bolster & two pillows to her & her heirs forever. ITEM I give to my son Benjamin W. Russell all the (illegible) of the property lent me by his father with some other consisting of one of best beds that I have with all of bed clothing that I have after my two daughters gets theirs, one large chest, one beaufat (buffet ?) & furniture, one press & (illegible), one spinning wheel, two pot (illegible - trummels?) (illegible) pots, one Dutch oven, one (illegible - spider?), one tea kettle, one skillet, one gridiron, one pair of wood irons, one pair (illegible ----thing) irons, one loom & furniture, small mahogany table, half a dozen windsor chairs, one tin sugar box, two cows & calves. My wish is for him to have the best bedstead that I have with his bed also I wish for all the balance of what may be found that is not herein mentioned except my old woman Cate (?) to be sold by my executor & the money to be given to my son Benjamin all of which I give to him his heirs & assigns forever. Also I hereby make & ordain my son Daniel L. Russell whole & sole Executor to this my last will & testament to see that it is executed to the full intent & meaning thereof in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 10th of October 1826.
