I, John Tallman, of the county of Onslow (illegible) (illegible) (illegible) considering the uncertainty of life and being of sound mind and memory, blessed be almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First I resign my soul to the power of almighty of God who gave it and my body & remains to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my executors hereinafter named. My worldly estate I give and devise of as follows. ITEM I lend unto my beloved wife Cassandra Tallman a part of the plantation where I now live during her natural life. It being the part whereon the house now stands, and also about half of my plantation where I now reside, which I shall hereafter leave to my daughter Hannah, beginning at a cypress on the swamp at side of creek (illegible) and running up a stream through the field, a strait line right out to my other line by estimation supposed to contain about thirty acres in all which said lands to have and to hold unto her my said beloved wife during her natural life. I also lend unto my beloved wife during her natural life two beds and furniture, also five cows and calves and their increase during her natural life. Also all the rest of my household and kitchen furniture, during her natural life, all of which said furniture at the death of my wife to be equally divided between my three daughters, Cassandra Tallman, Hannah Tallman and Elizabeth Tallman only (receiving?) their beds and furniture out of the furniture before mentioned that I now intend to give my three daughters. And I also lend unto my wife all of my plantation tools during her natural life. Also I lend unto my beloved wife my two riding creatures during her natural life. Also I lend to her the use of my stocks of hogs except three sows and pigs. ITEM I give unto my daughter Cassandra Tallman the ballance of my lands that I have not heretofore willed, it being the part adjoining of Barber lands to her during her natural life and then to go to her heirs lawfully begotten of her body if any, and if she has no heirs, for it to return back to my daughter Hannah. I also give my daughter Cassandra one bed and furniture, one sow and pigs and seven head of cattle and their increase, four cows and calves & one heifer, also (a spinning?) wheel, all to have and to hold during her natural life. ITEM I also give unto my daughter Hannah at the death of her mother the lands that I have (above?) lent to her mother during her natural life. At the death of my daughter Hannah, the lands that I have left her to go to the heirs lawfully begotten of her body if any, and in case of (failure?) of such heirs, then to return to Cassandra Tallman, also five head of cattle, consisting of two cows, a yearling and one heiffer, also my bed and furniture, & one sow and pigs, and increase of all of her said stocks. ITEM I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Tallman one hundred and fifty acres of land, more or less, lying on Starkey's Creek, near the (head?) on the south side of said creek, to have and to hold during her natural life, also one bed and furniture and five cows and calves, two heifers and their increase and five sows & pigs and their increase, all of which said property to have and to hold during her natural life. ITEM I give unto my grandson (Tray or Lacy?) Tallman twenty dollars to be paid him when he comes of age, to be paid by my three daughters, Cassandra, Hannah, and Elizabeth. ITEM I give unto my daughter in law (Hester?) Tallman five shillings. ITEM I give unto my daughter (Nancy?) Tallman five shillings. ITEM I give unto (Luanna or Lucinda?) Eastman, my grand daughter, twenty dollars to have and hold when she comes of age by my three daughters Cassandra, Hannah & Elizabeth Tallman. It is also my will and desire that the property that I have already lent wife and what I have not heretofore given away, at the death of my wife, it be equally divided among my three daughters Cassandra Tallman, Hannah & Elizabeth. I leave my wife and daughter Cassandra Tallman executors.
