This the 24th of August AD 1827. I, George White Senr, of Onslow County being in a perfect state of bodily health at this time & of sound mind & memory but knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, do make this my last will & testament in the following manner. My body I recommend to its parent earth to be buried in a decent christian like manner & as to uching (?) such worldly Estate as it has pleased god to bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of in the manner & on the conditions hereafter particularly described, that is to say…. First, I ratify & confirm in this my last will the first & eternal right of my wife Nancy in the event of her surviving me in this life, to all the property specifically named & provided and in a deed of gift made by me to my son Robert White & to all the property specifically named & printed out in a deed of gift made by me to my son George White. To the said Nancy, my wife, together with every article of support, maintenance or otherwise as it is declared in the aforesaid deeds of gift without fraud or deception of either the said Robert White or the said George White according to the true intent of meaning of the said deeds of gift aforesaid. I also give & bequeath unto my wife Nancy one sorrel mare (called Sene tipper {?}), one feather bed & furniture, one pine table, half dozen sitting chairs, one set of crockery ware, one case of knives & forks, one iron pot, teakettle and spider (?), two cows & calves, five ewes & lambs, one sow & pigs to her & her heirs & assigns forever. I also lend my wife, Nancy, during her natural life, one negro girl named Zelda & I give my wife one pine chest to her, her heirs & assigns forever. And I have heretofore lent & delivered unto my son in law Jesse Barrow, one young mare, bridle & saddle, five cows & calves, five ewes & lambs, one feather bed, bedstead & furniture which property so loaned, I now give unto the said Jesse Barrow, his heirs & assigns forever. & I have also lent & delivered unto my son in law John B. Thompson two negro slaves, females by the name of Sofia & Eliza which said female slaves Sofia & Eliza, I hereby lend unto the said John B. Thompson together with their past and future increase during the natural life of my daughter Polly Thompson (wife of the said John B. Thompson) & at her death, I give the said female slaves Sofia and Eliza & their increase to the heirs of my daughter Polly Thompson lawfully begotten of her body to them, their heirs and assigns forever. & I have also lent & delivered unto my son in law Harry W. Thompson one negro man slave named Sanders which said slave Sanders I hereby lend unto the said Harry W. Thompson during the natural life of my daughter Scena Thompson, wife of Harry W. Thompson & at her death, I then give the said slave Sanders to the heirs of my daughter Scena Thompson, lawfully begotten of her body, to them, their heirs & assigns forever. I have also lent & delivered unto my son in law John Young, three negro slaves, one boy Isaac, two girls Sylvia & Kitty which said slaves & increase I hereby lend unto the said John Young during the natural life of my daughter Nancy Young (wife of the said John Young) & at her death, I then give the said slaves & increase to the heirs of said Nancy Young lawfully begotten of her body, to them, their heirs, and assigns forever. I have also lent & delivered unto my son in law William H. Thompson three negro slaves, two boys Harris & George & a girl named Mariah which said slaves & increase, I hereby lend unto the said William H. Thompson during the natural (life - omitted) of my daughter Clarissa Thompson wife of the said William H. Thompson & at her death I then give the said slaves & increase to the heirs of the said Clarissa Thompson lawfully begotten of her body to them, their heirs & assigns forever. I also give to my son in law John Thompson one horse saddle & bridle formerly lent to him together with some other property passed (?) into possession shortly after his marriage together with one dollar in cash to him, his heirs & assigns forever. I also give to my son in law John Young, one young negro called Jelisn (?) together some other property passed into his possession shortly after his marriage together with one dollar in cash to him, his heirs & assigns forever. I also give to my son in law William H. Thompson one sorrel horse called Blaze together with some other property passed into his possession shortly after his marriage together with one dollar in cash to him, his heirs & assigns forever. I also give to my son Robert White one horse called Grey, one saddle & bridle, & one negro boy named Kilby to him, his heirs & assigns forever. I also give to my son George White one young horse called Pilot, one saddle and bridle, one feather bed & furniture, five cows & calves, five ewes & lambs, three sows & pigs, one negro boy named Anthony to him, his heirs & assigns forever. It is also my will & desire that all my just debts be paid by my Executor hereafter named out of the money on hand if any & the debts due my of every description & after paying such debts as is made appear to be justly due from the money & notes aforesaid, the balance of said money & notes be it more or less to be equally divided between Robert White, George White, my sons & John Young & William H. Thompson my sons in law to them, their heirs & assigns forever. I also give to my wife's son William Venters one yearling colt, a sorrel colour blaze face, one saddle & bridle, one feather bed & furniture, one cow & calf together with a pine chest to him, his heirs & assigns forever. I also constitute and appoint my son Robert White & my son George White executors to this my will, denying all others & acknowledging this to be my only will & disposition of the property herein named which said will is interlined (?) on the first side between the 24th & 25th lines with the word George & in the second side between the 16th & 17th lines with the word Polly & also interlined on the said second side between the 29th & 30th lines with the words one boy Isaac, two girls Sylvia & Kitty & in addition to this my will, I also give & bequeath unto my son George all my household & kitchen furniture, plantation tools of every description together with what feathers I have on hand to him, his heir & assigns forever & the balance of my stock of horses, cattle, hogs & sheep, my crop growing & on hand & my property, the balance of it not herein bequeathed or by me otherwise disposed of, of every description. I give & bequeath equally to my son Robert & George (on condition that they the said Robert & George, Executors to this my will, all of which I herein distinctly & approve of in testimony whereof I the said George White herein have hereunto set my hand & seal this 25th of August AD 1827. Then was this will of George White offered for probate and the execution thereof duly proved in open court by the oath of James Glenn Senr, one of the subscribing witnesses and Robert White came into court & qualified thereto as Executor agreeable to law.
