This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ==================================================================== JOSEPH BALL WILL State of North Carolina County of Onslow Will Book 2 In the name of God, amen, I Joseph Ball of the County of Onslow & State of North Carolina, being verry sick & weak, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God for it, and calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last will and testament in manner & form, that is to say. First of all, I give & recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it & my body to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my friends. First, I give & bequeath to my beloved wife Cereny Ball, all my land, houses, household & kitchen furniture with all my farming utentials & tools of every discription; likewise, all my stock of every kind with the exception that my daughter Louiza Ball shall have two cows & my son David to be priviledged to build himself a house on said land & live on it & work on said premises, he & his brother Elijah & help maintain their mother Cereny Ball & is my will that at the death of my beloved wife, that all my lands, goods & chattles that is then remaining to be equally divided between my three children; David, Elijah & Louiza Ball & it is my wish that David shall have his part of lands where he puts up his building. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 1st day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifty four. Joseph (his mark) Ball Signed sealed published and delivered in the presence of Joseph Marshall Delamore (his mark) Wells John Eubank State of North Carolina} Onslow County} Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions September Term 1854 Then was the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Joseph Ball, deceased, was offered for probate and the same admitted as such last will and testament on the testimony of Joseph Marshall, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and said paper writing ordered to be recorded and filed. When Sereny Ball, the widow of said deceased, applied in open court for letters of administration, with the will amended, which was granted, upon her entering into bond in the sum of one hundred & fifty dollars, with Zeph Marshall and Benjamin R.
