I, Sally Basden, of Onslow County and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind & memory, caleth to mind the unsertenty of live and the sertinty of death, maketh and ordaineth this my last will and testament, in manner and form as follows. First of all, I recommend my sole to almighty God from whence it came, my boddy to the durt of the earth, to be buried in a discant manner. ITEM I give and bequeath unto my beloved grand son Buckner Briant Berry, one feather bed, bed sted and furniture, also one negro boy by the name of Sanders to him, his heirs and assigns forever, reserving the labors of Sanders to the use of my beloved daughter Luiza Ann Wallis untill my grandson B. B. Berry arives to the age of twenty one years. If Sanders should dy before B. B. Berry should arive to the age of twenty one, my desire is that there should be another negro out of my stock of Negroes put in the place of Sanders, such one as my daughter may wish for him to have. It is my will and desire that all my grand children that should become of lawful age or marry before the death of my daughter Luiza Ann Wallis, should have one negro given of to them such negro as my daughter may wish for them to have. I lend unto my beloved daughter Luiza Ann Wallis my Negro woman Lettis & Selvy and all their children and increase during her natural life with the reserve that I have before maid. It is my desire that after the death of my beloved daughter that all of the Negroes, lande and not other wais desposed of, should be equeally divided among all my grand children. If there should be any living of my daughter, should leave no child or children living at her death and Stephen Wallis her husband should be living, my desire is that he Stephen Wallis should have the use of all the stock of Negroes during his natural life and then to my lawful heirs. If in case my daughter should be the longgest liver and have no child living , it is my will and desire that my daughter Luiza Ann should dispose of all the property as she may think properly. ITEM I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Luiza Ann Wallis all my household and kitchen furniture and stock of all kind, if any. Lastly, I nominate constitute my friend John Jones Executor to this my last will and testament, the 20th of April 1845. (Signed) Saly Basden Assigned sealed in the presents of us Silas (his mark) Basden Attest: Lemuel Williams State of North Carolina} Onslow County} Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions December Term 1848 Then was the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Sally Basden offered for probate and admitted on the oath of Silas Basden, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded and filed as the last will and testament of Sally Basden, deceased, and that letters Testamentary be granted to John Jones, who appeared in open court and qualified as Executor thereto.
