I, Richard Collins, of Onslow County & State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and perfect memory, blessed be God, do this nineteenth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two, make and ordain and publish this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say; First, I give and bequeath unto my wife Elizabeth a piece of land lying on the River known by the Cary field during her natural life; also all the property of every kind she was possessed of when I married her. Also, I give unto my daughter Nancy Boney five dollars and also the sum of two hundred dollars that I lent to her husband, Winebuck Boney. Also, I give to my grand daughter Margaret Foyles five dollars and two negroe girls. She has now in possession by the name Sophia & Mary. Also, I give to my grand son John Pierson the piece of land I loaned to my wife, at her death, to him & his heirs forever. Also, it is my will that all the property of every kind that I may be possessed of at my death be sold at six month credit and that my wife have one third of the proceeds to do and to act with as she may think proper and the balance to be equally divided between my three grand sons William, John and Amos Pearson. And I hereby make and ordain my worthy and respected friend Daniel Ambrose and my grand son William Pearson executors of this my last will and testament in witness whereof, I the said Richard Collins have to this my last will & testament set my hand and seal the day and year above written. Ward Benjamin Jenkins State of North Carolina} Onslow County} Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions, May Term 1847 Then was the foregoing paper writing purporting to be the last will & testament of Richard Collins, decd., offered for probate in open court and admitted as such last will and testament upon the oath of John Cary, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and William Pearson, one of the Executors therein named, appeared in open court and was duly qualified as Executor to said will, when it was ordered by said court that this will be field and recorded.
