Cook died, and shortly before his death, requested in our presence that after paying his just debts, that Charles Edward Cook, son of Dr. John Cook, should inherit of his estate the sum of six hundred dollars which sum to be paid into the hands of the said Dr. John Cook, his brother, and to be laid out in such manner as he should choose; but shortly after this, he the said Jacob W. Cook, also said in our presence that five hundred dollars should be the amount. October the 16th 1845 Witnesses: Dan A. Humphrey E. F. B. Koonce State of North Carolina} Onslow County} Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions May Term 1846. Personally appeared in open court Daniel A. Humphrey & Emanuel F. B. Koonce, cridetable witnesses who being duly sworn say that on the 11th day of October 1845, they were present at the dwelling house of Jacob W. Cook, who was then very ill of his last sickness that they were specially required by said Jacob W. Cook to bear witness that after paying his just debts that Charles Edward Cook, son of Doctor John Cook, should inherit of his estate the sum of six hundred dollars which sum to be paid into the hands of the said Dr. John Cook his brother, and to be laid out in such manner as he should choose. Shortly, after this he the said Jacob W. Cook also said that five hundred dollars should be the amount, and the said witnesses deposed further that the said Jacob W. Cook died a very short time after on the same day and that on the on the 11th day of the said month of October being. Within ten days after the death of the said Jacob W. Cook, and after the making of said declaration and will by him, they put the same in writing and subscribed the same with their names as witnesses which writing is here produced and exhibited by them and it further appears to the court here that the said Jacob W. Cook died on the said 11th day of October and that his next of kin have been called in and are present to contest the probate of said will if they think proper. It is ordered and adjudged that the said declaration and writing be and contain the last will and testament of the said Jacob W. Cook and that it be admitted to probate as such. Jasper Etheridge, clk
