The surname "Charlescraft" was widely used in Onslow County in the late 1700's and in the nineteenth century. I find it very curious that each family member named in the will uses the repeated "C. Craft". Perhaps someone is familiar with this will and can verify the surname. [bgc 10-31-01] In the name of God, Amen. Know all men by these presents that I, Archibald C. Craft, of the state & county aforesaid, being weak in body but sound in mind, do make this my last will & testament (viz.). After the following bequest hereunto, I will & decree that the residue of my property be sold, my lawful debts paid & liquidated & the remains of the proceeds arising from that sale to be equally divided between my children. 1st I give & bequeath unto my son, Thomas C. Craft, one bed & two cows & calves. The bed and one cow & calf he has now in possession, the other I wish given him. 2nd I give & bequeath unto my son, Isaac C. As there is an agreement now between my son Thomas C Craft & myself relative to tending the insuing crop & being aware of the uncertainty of the time (of) death, I wish the necessary farming utensils and horse & negro girl Emer to remain in his possession untill the crop is made & housed. The necessary provender for the horse & food for the girl as I was to furnish them. This signed same date as above. (signed) A. C. Craft Attest R.
