This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ==================================================================== EDGAR WILLIAMS HUMPHREY WILL State of North Carolina County of Onslow Will Book 2 I, Edgar Williams Humphrey, of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say. First, I desire that my beloved father, Williams Humphrey, provide for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relations and friends, and pay all funeral expences, together with all my just debts, out of any monies that may first come into his hands as a part of my estate. ITEM I give and devise unto my said father, Williams Humphrey, all that tract or parcel of lands that he intended for me and gave me; beginning at a sweet gum tree on Squires Run and running with a division line fence to the main Swansboro Road, to John M. Francks' line, then along said John M. Francks' line to the said Squires Run; then up said Squires Run to the beginning. Also, another tract or parcel of land lying on the east side of Swansboro Road, joining the lands of John M. Francks, running an easterly, south easterly course with the said Francks' line to Jinkins Run, then up said Run to Joseph Brock's line; then with said Brock's line to the New Bern Road, then along said New Bern Road to the fork of said New Bern and Swansboro Road to the beginning at John M. Francks' line; with all the advantages and improvements thereon. Also, one half of another tract or parcel of land lying on the east side of Jinkins' Swamp or Run, and towards, on the north by Joseph Brock's land, east by the desart, south by John M. Francks' land and on the west by Jinkins' Run. ITEM I give unto my said father, Williams Humphrey, all my right, title to and intent in the town property of Jacksonville, viz., one half of the lot of land that myself and George S. Ward bought of Isaac Ramsey and all the improvements thereon, adjoining the lands of the said George S. Ward, the main Trenton Road, and a lot of ground formerly belonging to Martin Frazier. Also, one Negro girl named Violet aged about twelve years old. Also, two horses, one named Dan and the other Redbird, one buggy and harness; also all my notes and money and all the residue of my property of every description unto him, his heirs and assigns forever. Humphrey, decd., offered for probate and admitted upon the oaths of Robert White & White D. Humphrey, the subscribing witnesses thereto and order to be recorded, and it is further ordered that letters of Administration with the will annexed be granted to Williams Humphrey upon his entering into bond in the sum of $5,000.00 with Daniel A.
