I, William Jones of the County of Onslow & State of North Carolina considering the uncertainty of life and mindful of the obligation upon every man to leave his affairs in order, do make & ordain this my last will and testament in manner & form following, viz. ITEM 1st It is my wish & desire that all my lawful debts be paid and satisfied by my Executors. 2nd ITEM It is my wish & desire that as there is a long standing account between my friend William P. Ferrand & myself that in ease of my demise before a final settlement between him & myself, I then wish Wm. Ferrand to satisfy himself as he may think proper. 3rd It is my desire that all of my property real & personal that my be left after my debts is satisfied, I divise to my wife during her natural life. 4th I give to my son Jno. L. Jones one dollar. 5th I give to my son John L. Jones's children the sum of six hundred dollars out of the annuel income of my estate for the support & benefit of his children to be paid anually by my Executors. 6th ITEM I give to my son Allen B. Jones six hundred dollars anually and he is to remain with his Mother to assist her & attend to her business during her life. In case that he does not comply with the above request, I then give him three hundred dollars per anum to be paid by my Executors anually. 7th At the demise of my wife, I lend unto my son Allen B. Jones the one half of my real and personal estate including the piece I now reside on & the lands ajoining it. If my son Allen should demise without lawful issue, I then give the property to my son John L. Jones's children to be managed by my Executors in what way they may deem proper to the benefit of his children. In case any contest should arise about my meaning in this my will, I hereby desire and ordain that the decesion of my executors therein shall be final & conclusive without resort to any other tribunal. Lastly, I nominate & appoint my trusty friends William P. Ferrand & Edward S. Jones my Executors & trustees, to the my last will and testament. Signed sealed & delivered this 12th day of June 1837.
