I, George H. McMillan of the State of North Carolina and County of Onslow, being of sound mind and memory, but of feeble body, do hereby make and ordain this my last will and testament, revoking all former wills by me made. First, I commend my soul to God who gave it, and my body to a decent interment. Second, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Laura A. McMillan my negro man slave Isreal Sen., to her own proper use and behoof forever. Third, I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Ellen Wright my negro woman slave Harriet (now in her possession) together with all her increase to her own proper use and behoof forever. Fourth, it is my will that all of my real estate be sold either private or publick by my executor together with all my perishable property, and the proceeds thereof or as much as my be found necessary, together with all bonds, notes and accounts of which I may die siezed and possessed, be applied to the payment of all my just debts, the balance if any to be applied as hereinafter directed. Fifth, I will that the balance of my negro slaves be kept employed either at hire or such service as will best conduce to the (mortial?) maintainance of my family and the education of my children for the term of five years, at the expiration of which term to be equally divided between my wife and those of my children not heretofore provided for. Sixth, it is further my will that a suitable house and lot be procured convenient to some academy or good school in the name and for the use of my family to be paid for out of any funds in hand as balance sale of property or hire of Negroes or any other source. Seventh, I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved brother Dugall McMillan as sole executor to this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the 3rd day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four. (signed) Geo. H. Fuller Conner McMillan State of North Carolina} Onslow County} Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions December Term 1854 The above paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of George H. McMillan, decd., is exhibited for probate in open court by Dugall McMillan, the executor therein named and the due execution thereof by the said George H. McMillan is proved by the oath and examination of William J. Fuller, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto. It is therefore considered by the court that the said paper writing, and every part thereof, is the last will and testament of the said George H. McMillan and the same is ordered to be recorded and filed, and thereupon the said Dugall McMillan, Executor as aforesaid duly qualified as such by taking the oath required by law.
