I, Joseph Morse, being of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be God), do this 26th day of January in the year of our Lord 1841, make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say. First, it is my will and desire that my executors hereafter named have me buried in a Christian like manner and funeral expences be paid. Second, it is my will that all my just debts be paid out of what property I leave to be sold by my executors hereafter named. Thirdly, I give to my beloved wife Synthia Morse all my town property in the Town of Swansborough. Also, I give to my beloved wife three negroes, Bob, Alice and Nero and all my household and kitchen furniture except what I intend to give to Polly Martin. Fourthly, I also give to my beloved wife Synthia Morse all the provisions that I have on hand and all the corn and fodder that I have on hand and my horse & horse cart gear and one cow and calf and one heifer, her choice, and all the ready money and notes that I have on hand to her, her heirs and assigns forever. Fifthly, I give unto Polly Martin one good feather bed, bedstead and furniture and cow & calf and one heifer to her, her heirs and assigns forever. Sixthly, I leave all the rest of my property to be sold by my Executors at six months credit and after paying my funeral expences and all my just debts, the balance of the money arising from said sales to be equally divided between all my lawful heirs. And I hereby make and ordain my worthy friends William P. Ferrand and Daniel Ambrose Executors of this my last will and testament.
