I, Joseph Mashborne, of the county of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed by God, do this 7th day of November in the year of our Lord 1815, make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say. ITEM I lend to my beloved wife Penelope Mashborne the house and plantation whereon I now live and one third part of all my lands lying on the south side of the south west branch of New River, one negroe man named Dick, one feather bed and furniture, all my stock of cattle and hogs and all the household and kitchen furniture during her natural life. ITEM I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Penelope Mashborne, one negroe woman named Phillis, one bay horse named Nick, one feather bed and furniture to her and her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Mashborne the lands whereon he now lives called the Lee lands, one negroe man named March, one bay horse named Leopard, one bed and furniture, all of which property now in his possession, to him and his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM I give and bequeath unto my son Daniel Mashborne, the land whereon he now lives that I purchased of Jonathan Bryan's estate, one negroe man named Peter, one gray horse named Jack, one bed and furniture, all of which property now in his possession, to him and his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM I give and bequeath unto daughter Mary Mashborne, two negroes named Jacob and Seal, one feather bed and furniture to her and her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM I give and bequeath unto my son Joseph Mashborne, the other two thirds of my lands lying on the south side of the south west branch of New River that I did not dispose of to wife, two negroes named Isaac and Ealee, one feather bed and furniture, and at the death of my wife, all of my lands lying on the south side of the sad south west of New River, one young horse named Union, to him and his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM I give and bequeath unto my son in law Isaac Trott, one dollar to him and his heirs forever. ITEM My will and desire that my negroe man George be sold to pay my just debts and my negro man Toney and Smith both to stay on the plantation or be hired out at the disscreation of my executors, also my negroe boys Frank and Lot to stay as above on the plantation and all the moneys arising from the labour or hire of Toney and tools to be equally divided annually between my wife and children, namely Henry, Daniel Mary and Joseph Mashborne and at the death of my wife, all my negroes not before given away and all the residue of my estate of what kind so ever, be sold and equeally divided between my four children as above named. And I hereby make and ordain my loving wife Penelope Mashborne and my son Henry Mashborne executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I, the said Joseph Mashborne, have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this day and year above written.
