This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ==================================================================== DALE DAVID RIGGS WILL State of North Carolina County of Onslow Will Book 2 State of North Carolina} Onslow County} October the 16 day 1837, To all men by these presents that I the late Dale David Riggs do give my wife Desire one horse and the choice of one cow and calf and the choice of one yoke of oxen and the choice of one sow & pigs and seven fatning hogs and enough out of the other hogs to make her meats one year and her three children and if she runs in debt, the manager shall take the property and sell it for the benefit of the heirs and I do want Thomas Riggs, my son, to come and build on my land and take the widow's team and crop, it with her and her children for such a part of the crop and if the team be dissused, the manager shall take them out of his imploy and return them to the widow. James Hamilton I want to come and build on my land and all the ground that he clears up, have all that he makes on it two years and help to keep up the fence round the plantation and they shall cutt nor carry no wood nor timber of no kind of (ov.?) the land nor (ho-p-poles). Turpentine, I want to go to pay my debts and if there be any left, I want it to go to my wife and children. Sixty two dollars and thirty cents in cash I want to go for the schooling of my two sons Isaac & David. Eighty dollars in notes * want the money when collected divided among my children but princepally to my three boy and I want it to go to school them the widow and Thos. and Feby my two grown children five dollars a piece out of the notes, all the rest of my property to be sold and if one of the children dies, I want their share to go the rest of the heirs and if David lives to be twenty one years old and has a lawfull heir, the land is (hisern?) and if he dies without a lawful heir, the land returns to the rest of the heirs. I nominate Thomas B. Holland & Daniel Ambrose my Executors to this my last will and testament.
