ITEM I lend to my beloved wife Permelia Sewel the mansion house where I now live and one third part of the plantation where I live; also all the rents that may fall due from time to time, from any person or persons cultivating my lower plantation lying on the south west; also one years provision to (be) laid off agreeable to law. ITEM I lend to my beloved wife Permelia Sewel one seventh part of all my perishable property or the proceeds thereof during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or marriage, the property to revert to my lawful heirs hereafter named. ITEM I give and bequeath to my son William Sewel one seventh part of all my perishable property or the proceeds thereof of what kind so ever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my son Shadrack Sewel fifty cents to him and his heirs forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my son Elijah Sewel fifty cents to him and his heirs forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my grandson Shadrack Sewel one seventh part of all my perishable estate of what kind so ever to him and his heirs forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my grandson Daniel Sewel, son of Elijah Sewel, one seventh part of all my perishable property of what kind so ever. ITEM I give and bequeath to grand daughter Sarah Gurganus one seventh part of all my perishable property of what kind so ever and if said Sarah Gurganus should die without lawful issue of her body, then her to part to revert to the other heirs herein named. ITEM I give and bequeath to my two grand children Daniel and Mary Shepard one seventh part of all my perishable property of what kind so ever and if one of said children dies without lawful issue, then the other surviving child to have said decd. child's part and in case both of the above mentioned grandchildren dies without lawful issue, my will is that their respective rights and interest in said estate revert to the heirs herein named. ITEM I give and bequeath to my son in law Frederick Shepard fifty cents to him and his heirs forever. ITEM I give and bequeath to my daughter in law Catharine (Orrell?) one seventh part of all my perishable property of what kind so ever, also the sum of thirty dollars in the place of my land which was previously given to my own children by deed. ITEM my will and desire is that at the death of my beloved wife Permelia Sewel that all the property lent to her be equally divided between the above mentioned heirs. ITEM my will and desire is that at my death, all my property not herein disposed of be sold and all my just debts be paid, burial expences, &C. ITEM It is my will and desire at my death that the county court appoint some suitable person to act as guardian to all the within named grandchildren with the exception of their fathers. ITEM I hereby appoint my worthy friend Gardner Shepard executor to this my last will and testament, in testimony whereof I, the said Daniel Sewel, have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day and date above written.
