I, Ruth Smelledge, being through the abundance mercy and goodness of God, though weak in body but of a sound and perfect understanding and memory, do constitute this my last will and testament and desire it may be received by all as such. Imprimus, I most humbly bequeath my sole to God my maker to prepare me for my (destution?), blessed be God, I give my body to the loam whence it was taken in full insurance of its resurrection from thence at the last day. My will is that I desire that all my just debts to be paid. Then was the paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Ruth Smelledge offered for probate and admitted on the oath of Josiah Henderson, he one of the subscribing witnesses there and ordered to be recorded.
