This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ==================================================================== MARY ANN THOMPSON WILL State of North Carolina County of Onslow Will Book 2 In the name of God, Amen I, Mary Ann Thompson, of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being of sound and disposing mind and memory but remembering that it is once appointed for all to die and that the time thereof is uncertain and being desirous to settle and dispose of my world goods in such manner as may best lead to harmonious and satisfaction distribution of the same, all things considered. ITEM 1st I resigne my soul to God who gave it and request that my body shall be intered in a proper and Christian like manner, avoiding unnecessary and extravagant display and that the expence shall be defrayed by my executor hereinafter appointed. ITEM 2nd I give and bequeath to my son Jonathan W. Thompson, now living in the County of Onslow, two negro slaves, vis., Celia and Mandy and their increase, to him and his heirs forever and I do require as a condition to the aforementioned legacy, that my said son, Jonathan W. Thompson, shall pay to my daughter Sally Cox, now living in the State of Georgia, the sum of two hundred dollars within six months after my death. ITEM 3rd I give and bequeath to my son Franklin Thompson, now living in the County of Onslow, the following negro slaves, viz., David, Lewis, Marenda, Julia, Abel, Sophia, Oliver, and Jonas & Cane, and there natural increase, to him and his heirs forever, and as a condition and qualification to the aforesaid legacy, I do acquire of my said son Franklin Thompson to pay to my daughter Penny Strange, now living in the State of Florida, the sum of two hundred dollars within six months after my death if applied for. And also require my said son Franklin Thompson to pay to my three grandchildren Owen S. Glenn, Thomas Glenn, and Harriet Glenn, the sum of one hundred dollars each at there arival at the age of twenty years or marriage. I also require my son, Franklin Thompson, to pay to my four grand children Mary Brown, Sarah Brown, Susan Brown, and Zacheus Brown, the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars each at there arrival at the age of twenty one years or marriage. ITEM 4th I give and bequeath to my said son Franklin Thompson two horses, Tom & Bill, and all of my stock of cattle, hogs and sheep, also all my household and kitchen furniture to him and his heirs forever. ITEM 5th I do hearby make, constitute and appoint my said son Franklin Thompson my Executor to this my last will and testament which I publish, execute and declare to be my last will and testament, revoking all wills and testaments by me heartofore made. Ervin and John S. Thompson, the subscribing witnesses hereto and the same ordered to be recorded and filed as the last will and testament of said Mary Ann Thompson, whereupon Franklin Thompson, the executor therein named, appeared in open court and was duly qualified and letters testamentary ordered to give to him.
