This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Zachariah Barrow, of Onslow County, being weak in body but of sound mind & memory thanks be to God for the same, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following: VIZ: First, I give my soul up to God who gave it to me and as to my body to be decently buried & as I devise as follows: Secondly: I give and bequeath to my loving wife, Lewcretia Barrow, three feather beds and furniture, all my plantation tools, six cows and calves & four horses, Viz: the two Nick horses, the little black and long light bay mare, I also give her all my stock of hoggs. I also lend her one half the plantation I now live on. I also lend her, my said wife, four Negroes; Toney, Sarah, Selvey and David during her natural life, and after her death to be equally devided amongst all my heirs. ITEM: I give and bequeath to daughter Marah Eagerton the land and plantation whereon my father lives, two feather beds, two cows & yearling and one heffer, the cattle Eagerton bought at John Orrels vandue, also one young nick colt to her and her heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my daughter Sarah five Negroes, that is to say Easter, Daniel, Harvey, Sampson and Harriot, and two beds to her & her heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my daughter Penelapa, three Negroes; Sue, Ussey and David, to her and her heirs forever. ITEM: I give to son Benjamin the land and plantation that I bought of John Orrel and one third part of my mill to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give to son John one half the land and plantation I now live on to be laid off next to my mill also one third part of my mill to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my son Thomas the other half of the plantation I now live on, only reserving my beloved wife's life in said land, also one third part of my mill to him and his heirs forever. ITEM: I give to my sons Benjamin, John and Thomas, two Negro men, namely Sharp and Sam, to be to the supporting of the mill at the discretion of my executors hereafter mentioned to them and their heirs forever. ITEM: I lend to my beloved wife Lewcretia one Negro man named James and after her death to be equally divided between all my heirs. It is also my will that all the rest and residue of my estate not given away should be the use of paying just debts. It is further my will that it should be in power of my executors to keep up the mill or to rent it out yearly. ITEM: I also nominate and appoint my son Benjamin Barrow and my trusty friend Benjaman Oliver and my son in law Charles Eagerton my hole and sole executors to this my last will and testament revoking and disannulling all former wills and acknowledging this to be my last will and testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 8th day of January 1799.
