This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen; I, Abner Battle, of the County of Onslow & State of North Carolina, being weak of body, but in perfect mind & memory, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following, VIZ: IMPRIMUS: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah Battle (SEE ** BELOW) one Negro girl name Dill, one Negro boy name Abe, one Negro boy name Hardy, to her, her heirs and assigns forever. IMPRIMUS: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah Battle, all of my horses, cattle, hogs, sheep, corn, wheat in ground, plantation tools, oxen, cart, fodder, household 7 kitchen furniture, two feather beds & bedsteads, furniture & to her, her heirs and assigns forever. IMPRIMUS: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Nancy Battle, my negros Isaac, Mary, Comfort, Lane, Amos, Penny and their increase, one feather bed & furniture to her, her heirs and assigns forever. IMPRIMUS: But should my beloved wife Sarah Battle, prove with child in due time after my decease, its my will & desire, that the said child shall equally share of the property I bequeath, I willed my beloved daughter Nancy. IMPRIMUS: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Nancy Battle, all my share of land left me by my father Ephrine Battle, deceased; but it is my will and desire if there should be another child as after mentioned, the said child wheather male or female, shall equally share of said land with my beloved daughter Nancey Battle, allowing my beloved wife Sarah Battle, the use of after land or plantation during her widow. But should she, my said wife marry, it's my will & desire that land or plantation be rented out for the benefit of after child or children that she or they marry or come of age. IMPRIMUS: It's my will and desire that my beloved wife Susannah Battle shall have the use & benefit of all negros left, my beloved daughter Nancy Battle, till said Nancy comes of age or marries, for raising clear of any expense & educating said child or children, but it is my will and desire that should there left child or children die minor, that my property, bequeath and will my child or children shall fall legally and truly to my beloved wife Susannah Battle her, her heirs and assigns forever. IMPRIMUS: It's my desire that all moveable property together with one Negro boy named David (that is not already mentioned) shall be sold to the best advantage, and pay my debts with this amount; but whatever is over I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Susannah Battle, her heirs and assigns forever. IMPRIMUS: I constitute & appoint my beloved wife, Susannah Battle & my truly friend Gains Rowe, Esq., as managers of this my last will & testament, denying all other wills, bequeath acknowledgment is to be my last will and testament.
