FIRST, I will my body to the grave to be decently bury'd at the discretion of my after marked executor and my soul into the hands of God who gave it. As to my worldly property with which God hath blessed me, I dispose of it in the following manner. IMPRIMUS: I give to my beloved wife, Abigail Burns, my dwelling house and houses, plantation and all of my old patent land during the term of her natural life, and at her death to descend to my two sons, Otway Hawkins Burns and Solomon Chadwick Burns, to be equally divided between them; but if either of them should die without issue, the survivor is to take the whole. ITEM: To my beloved wife I also give one feather bed, bedstead and furniture, also one cow and yearling, one yoke of oxen and cart and my riding mare called Fan with saddle and bridle, and all of my farming utensils with household and kitchen furniture except such articles as shall be hereafter mentioned. ITEM: To my daughter Evelina I give and bequeath one mare yearling called Pigeon, one bed and furniture, one cow and one pine chest. ITEM: To my daughter Lissina Hawkins, I give and bequeath one bed and furniture, and one cow and calf and one pine chest. ITEM: To my daughter Sophia Chadwick, I give and bequeath one cow and calf, also one bed and furniture and one pine table. ITEM: The corn in crib and pork on hand, I give for the support of my wife and family the present year, but should there be a surplus of either, my wife has liberty to dispose of it for the benefit of the family. ITEM: To my beloved wife I give canoe and one fishing sein, one loom, one hand mill, two wheels, one grind stone and carpenter's tools, eight head of hogs. ITEM: All the movable property that I have herein given to my wife at her death, I give to my three before mentioned daughters to be equally divided among them. ITEM: Fifty acres of land lying on Queens Creek joining Brice Burns land, one horse and one Negro woman I leave to be sold for the purpose of discharging my debts. Lastly, I do ordain and appoint Isaiah Provo and my beloved wife Executor and Executrix to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the 27th day of January 1824.
