This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Thomas Cary, of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following (to wit) I first recommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it to me and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors and as to such worldly property which it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and dispose of in the manner following: 1st: I give to my beloved wife Mary a child's part of all my land (except what is to be sold or hereafter mentioned) during her natural life, and at her death to be equally divided among my children. I also give my said wife a child's part of all my other property, (except what is to be sold) during her natural life and at her death to be equally divided among my children, . If my said wife should marry and have a child or children, and one or more of my children should die, it is my wish that the half blood should not heir any part of my property real nor personal, in any way whatever. It is my wish that my wife have all the houses annexed to her part of the land. 2nd: I give to my dear beloved children, Ruthy, John & Jephthah, all the residue of my estate, real and personal, (except what is left to be sold) to be equally divided among them when the youngest comes of age, to them and assigns forever. And it's my wish and desire that my wife have the use of the children's property until the youngest comes of age, to raise and support them. I wish my executor to sell the lightwood heaped together for the purpose of tar kill, two guns, one steel trap, cross cut saw, hand mill, and my right to the land I bought of Cornelius Creed, also the land that I bought of Robert Hank. I wish only my right sold & no deed more than a quit claim from my heirs and the money to be applied to pay my just debts and in case there should not be enough sold to pay my debts, I wish my executors to sell such property as can be best spared. I constitute my dearly beloved wife Mary Cary & John Pearson Junr., executors to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this January 1st day 1812.
