This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Edward Dudley, of the State of North Carolina and County of Onslow, being weak of body but of sound mind and memory, do constitute, make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following (viz.): Item: In the first place, my will and desire is that all my just debts be paid and funeral expences be discharged in a reasonable time after my decease by my executors. Item: In the second place, my will and desire is that all my lands in the state of Georgia be sold and the moneys arising there from together with the moneys I now have on hand be appropriated to discharge my debts, also my will is that the corn I now have on hand together with my stock of all kinds together with plantation tools and household furniture to be sold and appropriated for the above purpose of discharging my debts and the over plus to be divided one half to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Dudley and the other half to be equally divided between Ketsa Warters & her child by the name of Edward. Item: My will and desire further is that my Negroes be equally divided and one half to go to my daughter Elizabeth Dudley & the other half to be equally divided between Ketsa Waters and her son Edward. My will further is that no part of my Negroes be sold. Item: My will and desire further is that the plantation on which I now live and I do hereby give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter the said plantation, to her and her heirs forever at the time of her coming to the age of twenty one years or marries. Item: I give and bequeath unto the son of Ketsey Warters by the name of Edward, my other plantation known by the name of the Hall plantation to him and his heirs forever, reserving the use of the said plantation to his mother Ketsey Warters until he arrives to the age of twenty one years, unless she marries, in that case, my will and desire is that the plantation be rented out and the moneys arising there from to go to the before named Edward and if the before named Edward should die before he arrives to the age of twenty one years, my will & desire is that the said plantation go to Ketsey Warters to her and her heirs forever, and if both Ketsey Warters and Edward should die, that my daughter Elizabeth Dudley should have it, and if my daughter should die before she arrives to the age of twenty one years or marries my will and desire is that the above named Edward should have the whole and if both Edward & Elizabeth should die before they come to the age of twenty one, my will is that Ketsey Warters have the whole. And I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty and well beloved friends Creed Dudley, Nathaniel Loomis, & Lemuel Doty my whole and sole executors to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 25th day (of ?) one thousand eight hundred.
