This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, James Eagerton of Onslow County, being weake in body but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following, viz: First, I give my soul up to God who gave it to me and as to my body to be decently buried & as to my worldly goods, I devise as follows. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my loving wife Dorothey Eagerton one Negro woman named Ginney, my stock of horses, hogs and sheep and the remaining part of my cattle after giving each of my children a cow and a calfe apiece; also, two feather beds and furniture, also my plantation tools during her natural life, also lend her my plantation during her life or widowhood. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Isaac Henry and my daughter Dorothy and the infant that my wife is now pregnant with, if living when borned, three Negro girls and in case, that is to say Betty, Tony and Mevely; also, an equal division at my wife's death or marriage, one feather bed and furniture to my children that is not mentioned in my said last will, be it further issued that this is my will. There should be a division when my son shall arrive at the age of twenty one it is also my will that all the real estate and residue of my estate not given away should be 3equally divided amongst my wife and children. Item: I also nominate and appoint my beloved wife and my brother Charles Eagerton my whole and sole executors to this my last will & testament, revoking & disannulling all former wills and acknowledging this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of December 1801.
