This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina State of North Carolina} Onslow County} In the name of God, Amen: I, Dury Goodwin of the county & state aforesaid, being weak of body but perfect of mind and memory, thanks be Almighty God for the same, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows: ITEM: First after paying all of my just debts, I give the whole of the plantation whereon I now live unto my beloved wife, Elizabeth Goodwin, to do as she may think proper. ITEM: I give my two Negroes, Sam and Lettes, to my beloved son Warrington Haywood Goodwin, to him, his heirs and assigns forever. I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Almaria Goodwin, one Negro boy by the name of Arthur, to her to have and to hold to her and her heirs forever, and if either of said children should die without heir, then the said Negroes shall go to the one living & if my beloved wife shall see cause to keep my children & bring them up, she shall have the use of said Negroes until my son and daughter become of age, otherwise said Negroes is to be hired out for the schooling and bringing up of my son and daughter. ITEM: I give to my beloved wife one bed and furniture, to she and her heirs forever. I leave all of my perishable property to be sold to pay my debts & also a tarkiln in (New) Hanover County betwixt William Mathews of said county and myself. I also leave part of said kiln to be sold. I also leave my Negro boy by the name of Harry to be sold to pay my debts, also the money that my Negro man Sam whom I have willed away to make my turpentine in the present year, shall go likewise to pay my debts and if there should not be money sufficient to pay all of my just debts, I leave said Negro Sam to be sold to discharge the same and lastly I nominate, ordain & appoint my beloved wife Elizabeth Goodwin and my beloved friend Benajah King sole executors to this my last will and testament, revoking all other wills by me made, declaring them to be voyd and of none affect.
