This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Jesse Gurganus Senior, of the State of North Carolina, Onslow County, being weak of body but of sound mind and memory blessed be God, and calling to mind that it is given for man once to die, do make and ordain this my last will & testament in manner following, (viz.): First, that my body be buried in a Christian manner, looking for the resurrection to come through Jesus Christ. Secondly, I dispose of my worldly goods as follows and that all my just debts be paid and burial expenses. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Maryon (Marion?) one bed and furniture. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son Frederick, Jesse, William, and John Gurganus and my daughters Ann Roberson, Penilope Gurganus, Edith Jarrott, Lorene Gurganus, each and to either, ten cents. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Maryon and my daughters Jemima, Rebecca, my son James and my son Zachariah, my daughter Hannah and my son Wiley Gurganus, all the profits arising from the sale of my property which desire should be sold all that I have not here mentioned and equally divided among them, (viz.): My wife Maryon, my daughters Jemmima, Rebecca, and Hannah and my sons James, Zachariah, and Wiley, to them, their heirs and assigns forever. Lastly, I constitute and appoint my friends Frederick Foy executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the 23rd day of March 1822.
