This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina North Carolina} To wit, in the name of God, Amen: I, Zachariah Gurganus of the State aforesaid and County of Onslow, planter, being sick and weak in body but of a disposing mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament in form following; Chief of all, I humbly commend my soul unto the mercy of God my creator and my body to corruption, fully trusting for the salvation of the one and the resurrection of the other, only through the merits of Jesus Christ my redeemer, and as the worldly goods that Providence has trusted me with, after my just debts and needful expences being first paid, I desire to dispose of them as followeth: ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Gurganus all my land and plantation whereon he now lives that lies on Blue Creek, also one half of the stock of cattle that he has now in his possession, also my saddle, to him and his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: My will and desire is that all the land I own whereon I now live to be equally divided between my four daughters, namely Molly, Tamer, Charity and Elizabeth Gurganus, to them, their heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give to my daughter Peggy Gurganus fifty dollars to her, her heirs forever. ITEM: My will and desire that all my home stock of cattle and plantation tools and the money securing there from household and kitchen furniture and hogs be sold and be equally divided between my four daughters, namely Molly, Tamer, Charity, and Elizabeth Gurganus, to them and their heirs forever. ITEM: I give to wife Mornen (Mourning?) Gurganus, one yoke of oxen during her natural life, then to return to my children and to be divided among them. Further, I constitute and appoint my friend Thomas Marshburn and my son Henry Gurganus Executors to this my last will and testament, revoking all other wills by me made and declaring this and no other to be my last will and testament, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my (hand) and affixed my seal this the 10th day of March 1820.
