This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Martin Hammond, of Onslow County and State of North Carolina, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be unto God, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following: 1st: I give and bequeath unto my son George Hammond one smooth bore bum which he has now in possession and my wearin apperal. 2nd: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susanna Hammond one tract of land lying on the east side of the northwest branch of New River, containing one hundred acres more or less, adjoining the lands of Hancock & Bryan, also one bed and bedstead and furniture, also one half of the household furniture besides what I shall will unto my grandchildren. 3rd: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Hammond one bed and bedstead & furniture, also one half of my household furniture, besides what I shall will unto my grandchildren. 4th: Also, I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Katy Hammond, one bed & bedstead and furniture. 5th: Also, I give and bequeath unto my two grandchildren Mary & George W. Hammond, one heffer yearling apiece. Also, my will & desire is that all the rest of my cattle is to be equally divided between my two daughters Sussanna & Elizabeth Hammonds. And my will and desire is that all my household property that I have not before willed away, to be equally divided between the aforesaid Sussanna & Elizabeth Hammonds a& also one mare, hogs, sheep & all the rest of my property to be equally divided between the aforesaid Sussanna and Elizabeth Hammonds. I nominate & appoint John Willey of Onslow County my executor to this my last will and testament, revoking all former wills heretofore by me made, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 26th day of February one thousand eight hundred and one.
