This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Jacob Huggins of Onslow County, being weak in body but of sound mind & memory do make & ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following; first, I recommend my soul to God that gave it, hoping through the merits of my blessed Saviour to receive free pardon of all my sins & as such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with, I dispose of in the following manner. First, I give to my son Cooper Huggins one half of the lands I now possess, comprehending the house & plantation whereon I now live, beginning at the mouth of a small branch at the lower side of the cleared land called Rice's Patch Branch & running up the said branch to the county road, thence along the road to the next branch, including all the lands on the north side of the (word or words omitted), to him and his heirs forever. I also give to my son Cooper Huggins one cow named Pink, to him & his heirs & assigns forever. Secondly, I give to my son Luke Huggins one half of my lands which I now possess, being the lower half beginning at the mouth of a small branch called Rice Patch Branch, running up the Cassons Corners of the same to the county road, thence along the road to the next branch, including all the land on the south side of the road & if my son should die before he comes of age, I leave the above said land to be sold & the money to be equally divided amongst my children. I also give to my son Luke Huggins one cow named Callico, one coalt to him & his heirs forever. I give to my son Luke Huggins five pounds in money. Thirdly, I give to my beloved wife Frances Huggins, during her natural life, the upper half of my plantation whereon I now live. I also give unto my wife one feather bed & furniture, also two young horses & a mare. I also leave my Negro man Adam to my wife during her natural life and at her death to be sold & the money to be equally divided amongst my two sons Luke Huggins & Cooper Huggins. I leave to my wife Frances all my cattle except such as shall hereafter be given away. Fourthly, I give to my son Jacob Huggins one cow named Cheary, one feather bed and furniture and bedstead, one mare to him & his heirs forever. Fifthly, I give to my daughter Lizanner Huggins one cow named Star & her calf. I also give my daughter one calf, which is named White Rump, one bed & furniture to her & her heirs forever. Sixthly, I give & bequeath to my daughter Peurity Huggins one cow named Dumpling & her calf. I also give to my daughter Purity one calf named Stately, one feather bed & furniture, to her & her heirs forever. Seventhly, I give to my daughter Ruth Huggins one cow named Blacky & her calf, one bed & furniture, to her & her heirs forever. Eighthly, I leave my money & book accounts to be collected in and all other moneys which is due me to be applied for the building my chillyes (? - transcribed as typed in Book A) & other uses. I leave all the rest of my personal estate to my wife, which is not mentioned in this will, to enable her to raise my children and at her death, to be sold and the money to be equally divided amongst my children. Lastly, I nominate and appoint my son Jacob Huggins executor & my wife Frances Huggins executrix, revoking all other will or wills by me made, ratifying and confirming this only to be my last will & testament in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of November 1709.
