This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, John Jarrott of the State of North Carolina & County of Onslow, being sick & weak of body but of sound mind and memory, thanks to God, & knowing that it is the common lot of all to die, do make and ordain this as my last will & testament with respect to such worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bless me & desire that it may be disposed of in manner following, (viz.): My first desire is that my body be decently buried at the discretion of my executors to be hereafter named. ITEM: I desire that all my just debts be faithfully paid. ITEM: I give unto my sister Rhoda Gornto all my lands & the implements thereon during her life, and at her death to her heirs forever, also all my stock of hogs, horses & cattle, all my household furniture & plantation tools, also my canoe & stock of bees, & hand mill & horse cart, to her during her life and at her death, whatever shall be remaining to be equally divided among her heirs and to them forever. ITEM: My desire (is) that all the residue of my property not before given, shall be sold at six month credit and whatever monies shall remain after my debts are paid, I give to my sister Rhoda Gornto forever. And I do hereby constitute my good friends William French and John Gornto executors of this my last will and testament, utterly revoking & disannulling all others by me heretofore made, declaring this to be my last, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this 24th day of April in the year of our Lord 1804.
