This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina I, Benjamin Jinkins of the County Onslow & State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form, that is to say: FIRST: That my executor hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relations & friends and pay all funeral expense together with my just debts, howsoever and whomsoever owing out of the money that may first come into first hands as a part or parcel of my estate. ITEM: I give once devise unto my beloved wife Patsey Jinkins two choice bed & furniture, two choice sows and pigs & four choice stock of bees. All the domestic fowls and poultry and all the provisions that may be on hand at the time of my death. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my eldest daughter widow of Adam Deale one dime to be paid by my executor within two years from the time of my death, to be hers absolutely forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my eldest son Aza (Asa?) Jinkins one dime as his rite and property forever to be paid by my executor in the same manner as the last bequest and is made under the same views in reference to the former advancement. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Canady, wife of Elijah Canady, the sum of one dime as her rite and property forever, to be paid by executor in the same manner as the last bequest and is made under the same views in reference to the former advancement. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my youngest son Edmond Jinkins the sum of one dime as his rite and property forever, to be paid by my executor in the same manner as the last bequest and is made under the same views in reference to the former advancement. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my youngest daughter Eliza Eadens, wife of James Eadens, the sum of one dime as her rite and property forever, to be paid by my executor in the same manner as the last bequest and is made under the same views in reference to the former advancement, and LASTLY: I do thereby constitute and appoint my trusted friends Elijah Beesly & Elijah Justice Junior my lawful executors to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament, according to the true intents & meaning of the same & every part and clause thereof, thereby revoking & declaring utterly void all other wills and testaments by me heretofore made. Justice ITEM: My will is that all the residue of my estate (if any), after taking out the devises and legacies above-mentioned shall be sold and the debts owing to me collected, and if there should be any surplus over and above the payments of debts, expenses & legacies, that such surplus should go to my beloved wife to have and to hold, to her executors & administrators and assigns absolutely forever. Beasley & R. W. Justice, the subscribing witness hereunto as the last will and testament of Benjamin Jenkins Sr., decedent, and ordered by the court to be recorded & filed as such, when Elijah Beasley, one of the executors, qualified.
