This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Daniel Jenkins of the State of North Carolina and County of Onslow, Planter, being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, and calling to mind the mortality of my body & that it is appointed for all men to die, do before (these) presents make this my last will and testament. FIRST: I recommend my soul to God who gave it in hopes of a glories (glorious?) engagement of him through a mediator of a blessed redeemer. SECONDLY: I recommend my body to the earth from whence it was taken in hopes of a joyful resurrection at the last judgment, to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner, at the discretion of my executors; and touching such worldly effects as God has blessed me with, I dispose of in the manner following: IMPRIMUS: I give and bequeath to my dear and loving wife, Sarah Jinkins, my three feather beds together with all and sole my household furniture & kitchen utensils of all and every discription without any ressure (reserve?) whatever to her, her heirs & assigns forever, also my mare, bridle & saddle, likewise three cows & calves. She is to have her choice of my stock, also four sows and sixteen pigs and fourteen one-year-old hogs to her, her heirs and assigns forever. It is also my will that my aforesaid wife Sarah Jenkins shall have the full possession & use of all & every part or parcel of my land for & during the term of her natural life. And at the death of my said wife Sarah Jenkins, I give & devise said land to my son John Jenkins & the heirs of his body lawfully begotten or assigns forever & in default whereof or of such heirs or at his decease, the said land at my wife's decease to be sold and the profits arising there from to be equally divided between my brother Elish Jenkins & my stepdaughter Ann Hadnot. I also give and bequeath to my dear wife Sarah Jinkins all my plantation tools & implements of husbandry of every discription to her, her heirs & assigns forever, and also all the corn and bacon in her possession at my decease. It is also my will that my oxen & all the residue of my personal estate to be sold & after my just debts are paid, the remaining profits arising from such sale, I give to my wife Sarah Jinkins whom I also appoint & constitute executrix of this my last will & testament. I do hereby revoke all former wills & testamentary by me formerly made, witness my hand & seal this 7th day of March & year of our Lord 1804.
