Jennings, First Sargeant of the 43rd Regiment of the U.S. Infantry Commanding, by John S. Snawlood at Swansborough, Onslow County, North Carolina, At this day and date departed this life and was taken about the first of October 1814 same year, which he the said Frederick B. Jennings was taken with a violent attach of sickness, and continued to grow worse and worse from the date he was taken until the day he departed this life as above mentioned and many days before the said deceased departed this life whilst in his perfect senses and understanding, called upon witnesses to bear test to his last will & testament and requested the said deponents to set by his side and pay attention to his last request, that is: I, Frederick B. Jennings, give and bequeath all and all my property belonging or coming to me, as from the United States for my services as First Sergeant Commander by the above officers. To my friend Simion Swain who is now my nurse and pays every attention to me that I could as and for that reason will all my property to him, his heirs and assigns forever. Whereas Cassey Cowell & John Foley deposeth and sayeth that they both heard Fred B. Jennings a few days before his death give all his property to Simion Swain and that he the said Fred B. Jennings was in his senses & understanding and these deponents further sayeth that to the best of their knowledge and understanding, their depositions stands correct.
