In the name of God, Amen: I, Redding H. Jones of state and county aforesaid, being weak in body but of sound mind & memory, blessed be God for the same, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, (viz.): ITEM: I give and bequeath to my brother Dempsey Jones twenty shillings to him, his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my sister Sarah Jones five pounds to her, her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my sister Alice Bender five pounds to her, her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my nephew Redding Jones, son of Dempsey Jones, one Negro boy named Bartan, one Negro Alpherd, to him, his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to Nancy Bell one Negro girl by name of Kitty, to her heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to Mary French (what?), wife of Doctor William French, during her life time and after her death to be equally divided between her two sons Joseph & Isreal, to them, their heirs and assigns forever. (Note: apparently the transcriber omitted word or words indicating the bequest.) ITEM: I give my watch to Nick H. Mitchell, to him, his heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give my fowling piece to Bazel R. Smith, to him, his heirs forever. ITEM: Negro fellow Joe, Castallia and Negro woman Amy to be sold at six months credit, my home lot & all the furniture at six & twelve monthly, all the rest & residue of my property to be sold in like manner and the proceeds thereof to be applied to the payment of my debts. If what I have bequeathed is more than sufficient to discharge my debts, the residue to go to my sister Alice Bender, to her, her heirs and assigns forever and if what I have allotted to discharge my debts is insufficient, each and everyone of the heirs except Nancy Bell to pay their proportional part out of what I have given them. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my friend Bazel R. Smith one elegant suit of clothes. ITEM: Last of all, I nominate, constitute and appoint my friends William French and Bazel R. Smith as my whole and sole executors, to arrange my business and settle my debts in the manner I have herein described.
