This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, Stephen Landing (Landen) of Onslow County, being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, desires this my last will and testament in manner and form following, (viz.): After my just debts are fully satisfied and paid, I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Landing (Landen) my land and plantation whereon I now live during her life and at decease, I desire that my son Elza Landing (Landen) shall have all my rite of lands to him, his heirs and assigns forever, & in case my son Elza should die without lawful heirs, I desire that my lands should be equally divided between my two daughters Submetta & Henrietta Landing (Landen) to them, their heirs and assigns forever. ITEM: I give to my wife Elizabeth my mare, bridle and saddle & one feather bed and furniture during her life, together with all my household furniture, except two feather beds & furniture, one of which beds I give to my son Elza & the other to my daughter Submetta Landing (Landen). ITEM: I give one cow and calf to my son Elza, I give one cow and calf to my daughter Submetta, one cow and calf to my daughter Henrietta. ITEM: I leave one cow and calf & three steers to be sold to pay my debts. ITEM: I leave all the rest of my stock, cattle and hogs to my wife Elizabeth during her life, at her decease to be equally divided between my three children, Elza, Submetta & Henrietta Landing (Landen) to them, their heirs an ITEM: I lend to my wife Elizabeth Landing (Landen) also my plantation utensils during her life. I do constitute and appoint my friends James Foy & Nathan Murray my whole & sole executors to this my last will and testament, in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this the 10th day of January A.D. 1803.
