This file was contributed for use in the North Carolina USGenWeb Archives by: Beverly Cole ============================================================================ Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina In the name of God, Amen: I, James Lane (Sr.) of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be God, do this twenty seventh of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine, make this my last will and testament. FIRST: That all my just debts be paid. ITEM: I give unto my daughter Sarah Lane forty acres of land, to be the same more or less beginning at a popler on a branch joining Thomas Ennett line, then running across the old field about east corner to Persimmons Branch to a white oak, running up the said branch to a little slash make out the said branch to the head of it, to a white (oak) thence running a straight course to a litewood stump, then strate course to his old line to a gum, this I give by a deed of gift. ITEM: I give unto my son James Lane (Jr.) sixty acres of land be the same more or less and also four head of cattle. ITEM: I lend unto my beloved wife Sedda Lane during her life the plantation and plantation tools of all kinds, the horses, hogs, the sows and pigs and all the rest of my cattle, household and furniture, and at her deceased to be divided among the three children. ITEM: I give unto my son William Lane thirty acres of land be the same more or less lying on Turkey Creek joining Brice's land. And hereby make and ordain my worthy friend John Spicer executor of this my last will and testament, in witness whereof the said James Lane have to this my last will and testament.
