ONSLOW COUNTY, NC - WILL BOOK A - Pre-Marital Settlement of David Mitchell and Clarissa Ward, 26 Dec 1808 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Record of Wills, Book A 1800-1825 Onslow County, North Carolina Page 90 Know by all these men presents, that David Mitchell of the County of Onslow and State of North Carolina, planter, being this day to be joined in wedlock to Clarrissa Ward of the same county and in order to prevent any possible acciedent of waste, damage or detrement resulting to my said intended wife Clarrissa from said marriage and for her better maintenance and advancement in life or of her probable issue and for arese other good causes me thereunto moving have this day before marriage made over and by then presents do hereby make over relingquish and deliver unto my said intended wife Clarrassia in the present of her special friend Nathaniel Loomis to be by him held in trust for her heirs executors and forever all and singulair the slaves money and property whatever kind it may be to which the said Clarrissa is or may be entitled consisting of the following Negroes (viz.); Old Indi, Violet, Young Indi, Hutor, Acholes, also all their increase which they may hereafter have also two hundred pounds of money and notes unto the said Nathaniel Loomis, his executors or administrators. To have and to hold upon this special trust and confidence never the less and to and for the several use and trust hereinafter mentioned that is to say to and for the use of the said Clarissa during the term of her natural life and to and for the use of the heirs of her body or such person or persons as the said Clarrissa shall by her last will and testament or by any writing purporting to be her last will and signed by the proper hand and name of the said Clarrissa declare and appoint and to and for no other use or uses whatever.
